Vithas Urbania Climbs to Sixth After Best Performance Yet at World Championship
The Vithas Urbania team continues its steady climb at the ORC World Championship. After completing three races in the Bay of Naples, the Spanish crew has jumped two more spots to secure sixth place overall in the ORC 0 class.
It was a day of consistent improvement for the boat skippered by Tomás Gasset, delivering a 6th, a 4th, and a brilliant 3rd place in the final race of the day, during which they even led the fleet at several points. Gasset credited the success to the team’s ability to read the shifting winds (between 6 and 10 knots):
“The key to the day was the magnificent coordination between our strategist, Iñaki Castañer, and tactician, Carles Rodríguez. They placed us in the right spot at every turn.”
With the “discard” (dropping the worst result) about to come into play, the team is now gearing up for the decisive 60-mile coastal race, determined to keep their momentum alive in a fleet currently led by the American entry Summer Storm.
