Vithas Urbania Team Climbs the Rankings at the ORC World Championship

The Vithas Urbania team, the sole Spanish representative in the ORC 0 class, has moved up to eighth place overall following the second day of racing at the World Championship in Sorrento, Italy. In a day defined by light winds ranging from 6 to 9 knots, the team completed a technical 5.8-mile course, securing a solid seventh-place finish in the day’s only completed race.

Although the Committee attempted a second start, a significant drop in wind forced the fleet back to port after a three-hour wait on the water. Iñaki Castañer, the team’s sports director and tactician, highlighted the crew’s focus and the positive feedback regarding the boat’s speed:

“It was a very technical race where we could finally measure ourselves directly against the fleet. We know there is room for improvement, but the impressions are good, and we are satisfied with our performance.”

The team, skippered by Tomás Gasset, is focused on optimizing maneuvers to close the gap with the leaders in a high-level fleet dominated by competitive TP52s. The championship continues tomorrow, with plans to complete three races if weather conditions allow.
